Summary

Milking machine tests were carried out in 270 Norwegian goat herds in 1994-95. The technical standard of the tested plants in terms of the distribution of system working vacuum, reserve capacity, pulsation rate and air consumption of the milking unit is reported in graphs.

Statistical analysis shows association between milk quality (cell count and lactose content, indicators of udder health) and working vacuum (p<0.01), releaser system (p=0.07), fault in milkline slope (p<0.05), pulsation rate (p=0.11), and pulsator b-plus d-phase (p<0.001).
