Summary

Studies were carried out on 625 goats (11.9% of total population) which were covered by performance recording. The dairy performance traits were evaluated in 4 breeds: white unimproved, white improved, coloured unimproved and coloured improved. White unimproved goats achieved the highest level of each milk trait in comparison with white improved and both coloured breeds. There were no significant differences in dairy performance traits between white improved, coloured unimproved and coloured improved. The milk yield changes during lactation as well as fat and protein content of white and coloured goat’s milk were assessed as being typical.
