Rights & Permissions
Licensing
As an academic publisher with strong international focus, we partner with publishing houses throughout the world to bring Brill books to new markets through licensing of translation rights. If you are interested in translating or reproducing one of our publications, kindly reach out to our team at: brill-rights@degruyterbrill.com
In order to respond quickly to you about the availability of the desired rights, we recommend you complete the form below. Here you can already specify the title of the publication that you wish to translate, along with the intended list price and print run of your own publication.
Please be advised that Brill has incorporated the following Publication Ethics policy, which emphasizes the obligation for publishing houses to provide faithful and accurate translations of Brill texts. By submitting your application, you comply to these Publication Ethics and confirm that in the translated edition, you shall not abridge, expand or otherwise alter the Brill text without the written consent of Brill.
If you would like to be added to our mailing list so that you can be kept informed of new publications in your area of interest, please sign up to one of our e-mail newsletters.
Permissions
If you’re looking to translate excerpts, chapters or articles or wish to reuse material from one of our publications, kindly note that any reuse of copyrighted material requires express permission by the publisher. Please make sure to request permission well in advance and note that in most cases, a licensing fee will apply.
The quickest way to get permission for reuse of our content will be via our partner platform, Copyright Clearance Center (CCC).
Should you require further assistance or wish to submit your request personally, kindly write to us, indicating the title and portions you wish to reuse and let us know the format (print, e-publication, audio, open access, …) as well as print run/user group and publisher/media where the content in question will be republished. We experience a high volume of requests, so please be patient if it takes us some time to get back to you.
Occasionally, Brill does not hold copyright to published works, for instance with collections of previously published articles or with illustrations. Please consult the copyright pages in the Brill publications and/or the relevant credit lines to find the appropriate copyright holder for permission.
Please direct all requests regarding permissions to our team at: brill-rights@degruyterbrill.com
