Summary

Herbage mineral analysis appears to be better adapted to diagnose K nutrition status than soil analysis. On a tall fescue sward, N and K nutrition dynamics were studied on spring regrowths for 4 K fertilization levels on differentiated K fertility soils. The linear relation between N and K herbage content during regrowth was verified. A K nutrition index based on this linear relationship is proposed and a good correlation was obtained between this index and the sward production response to K.
