Summary

Effects of fertilization with NPK on yield and botanical composition of some grass and legume species was studied from 1989 to 1992. Nitrogen increased yield of grasses (Lolium perenne and Dactylis glomerata), but had only small effects on legumes. P and K had little effect on grasses, but increased yield of legumes. Botanical composition of the grass stand changed sharply under fertilization. Nitrogen stimulated development of grasses and weeds. Phosphorus and potassium when introduced in combination (PK) increased legumes and suppressed weeds.
