The aim of this poster paper is to discuss the process and problems of developing quality management systems for potato producers’ networks in Northern Finland. The presentation is based on a project started in 1998. The basic purpose of this project is to develop quality management of potato production from pre-basic seed production to marketing and retailing of food potatoes. The structure of quality management systems and manuals based on the new ISO 9001:2000 version is presented. The HACCP system was built into the quality systems. An overview of the environmental assurance and occupational health and safety management review process and documents is also presented. The system is maintained by a web-based solution that provides general documents and other information. The most problematic step in the development process has been maintaining and improving quality management systems. An auditing system inside the networks is also introduced.
