Though wide attention has been paid to supply chain concept and practices in agri-food industries in mature market economies, the supply chain management in fragmented agricultural sector of the developing countries is still suffering from missing. To facilitate SCM implementation in agribusiness industries, the performance measurement is a necessary step. Therefore the objective of this poster is to explore the characteristics of meat supply chains in China and evaluate the efficiency of supply chain operation of meat sector through empirical research.

The efficiency of meat supply chains will be measured through both operational and organizational dimensions. A survey will be conducted in primary and further meat processing firms in Jiangsu Province, China. Based on the survey result, an efficiency matrix will be developed and the analysis will be given on the efficiency of SCM implementation in meat processing industry in China. The last part is a summary of the research and managerial implications to the industry in China.
