The present paper proposes a framework for the application of the Theory of Constraints and draws on the principles underlying Transaction Costs Economy to identify and analyze the constraints within supply chains. The conceptual framework is presented and then assessed for viability based on the initial results of an empirical study of its application to supply chains in the agri-business sector.
