Summary

The aim of this work was to evaluate variations in yield and several physico-chemical, technological and cellular characteristics of milk from 20 primiparous Comisana ewes (10 which lambed in the spring and 10 in the autumn) associated with lambing season. Good results for the somatic cell counts in the milk of the two groups were observed; these counts never exceeded 300,000/ml. The pH, °SH, lactose, urea and Cl⁻, generally correlated with healthy conditions of the udder, presented normal values. Lambing season exerted a significant effect on the main nitric constituents, with higher values in the milk of the autumn-lambing ewes.
