Marmot is a new fur animal breeding species. An sickness rate analysis was carried out among marmots under in-cage management and the following infectious diseases, pasteurellosis (hemorrhagic septicemia) and staphylococcosis, were found. Endoparasites leave the host due to the lowering of the marmotâs body temperature down to 2 °С in the beginning of the hibernation phase. Among the non-contagious diseases we most often encountered improper front teeth attrition. We reviewed issues of feeding and keeping hygiene. We have tested and recommended some prevention measures against infectious, invasive and non-contagious diseases.
