The paper seeks to contribute better understanding of the supply chain management decisions of a contract manufacturer in food industry. The theoretical part of study shortly discusses on private label manufacturing as one form of subcontracting. The principles of lean production and value stream analysis tools are presented. In the case part the use of three analyses tools: process activity mapping, supply chain response matrix and demand amplification mapping, are presented. Also the structures of demand chains of different customers are discussed. The study showed that in the future direct deliveries from the contract manufacturer to retail stores will increase and use of EDI is more common. The delivery times will shorten and thus, more flexibility is needed from the contract manufacturer.
