Cet article sâattache Ã dÃ©mÃªler certains changements qui surviennent dans les interactions entre thÃ©Ã¢tre et littÃ©rature Ã partir du moment oÃ¹ lâon tente de faire thÃ©Ã¢tre contemporain des textes littÃ©raires. Il sâagit notamment de voir comment la terminologie a Ã©voluÃ© au fil du temps pour rendre compte de ces pratiques. Diverses notions sont dÃ©cortiquÃ©es dans le but de cerner celles qui seraient les plus indiquÃ©es aujourdâhui pour dÃ©crire au plus prÃ¨s le fonctionnement esthÃ©tique des objets particuliers que constituent ces textes littÃ©raires quâon destine aux publics des scÃ¨nes actuelles. Les questions du support et de la transfictionnalitÃ© constituent des appuis thÃ©oriques importants de cette rÃ©flexion qui traite dâune frange particuliÃ¨rement captivante de la production thÃ©Ã¢trale des vingt derniÃ¨res annÃ©es en Europe et au QuÃ©bec.

Abstract

This article proposes to disentangle certain changes that occur in interactions between literature and theatre following attempts to adapt literary texts for the contemporary stage. The issue, notably, is to observe how terminology has evolved over time in order to account for these practices. Various notions are analyzed with a view to highlighting current practices that best describe the aesthetic functioning of the particular objects formed by these literary texts intended for modern theatre audiences. Issues of support and transfictionality are important theoretical bases of this discussion, which focuses on a particularly captivating fringe of theatre production during the last twenty years in Europe and Quebec.
