Zusammenfassung

1. Die meisten Arten calanoider Copepoden, die in den oberen 250 m des Ã¤quatorialen mittleren Atlantiks gefunden wurden, sind auch von der Ost- und Westseite des Atlantischen Ozeans bekannt.

2. Nur wenige Arten treten in der gesamten WassersÃ¤ule auf. Nach ihrem Vorkommen in den verschiedenen Tiefenstufen ist eine kleine Gruppe von Arten an die OberflÃ¤chenschicht gebunden und eine grÃ¶szere Gruppe an das Wasser unter der Sprungschicht.

3. Die Anzahl der Arten pro Tiefenstufe ist unter 50 m doppelt so hoch wie Ã¼ber 50 m; diese Tiefe fÃ¤llt mit der Obergrenze der Sprungschicht zusammen.

4. In dieser Tiefe findet auch der grÃ¶szte Wechsel in der Artenzusammensetzung statt.

5. Die Zahl der Copepoden pro Kubikmeter filtriertes Wasservolumen und Tiefenstufe verringert sich unter 100 m betrÃ¤chtlich; diese Tiefe fÃ¤llt mit der Untergrenze der Sprungschicht zusammen.
