Summary

The authors report the results of chemical analyses performed in some rockpools of the Spanish Mediterranean coast and of the determination of the contents of fatty acids in Tigriopus fulvus populations collected in those rockpools.

As regards the chemical analyses of waters, the parameters examined show an increase of the concentration of salts compared to sea water.

The results of the analytical determinations of lipids of samples of Tigropus fulvus show that some acids, present with high concentration, are found in males and in females (16:0, 16:1, 18:0, 18:1), while some others are characteristic of eggs (14:0, 20:1), which are responsible for an increase in the concentration of these acids in (egg-bearing) females with respect to males.

The percentage of the saturated, mono-unsaturated, and poly-unsaturated fatty acids composing the total figure, is also reported.
