Copepods are numerically the largest group (81%) amid boreal Zooplankton of Shediac Bay from May to November.
Beyond 7 species previously described by Scott (1907) and found again, we mention for the first time from that bay the 13 following: Acartia longiremis, Alteutha oblonga, Calanus finmarchicus, Daotylopodia tisboides, Harpacticus chelifer, Metridia lucens, Monstrilla anglica, Oithona similis, Onychocamptus horrida, Parategastes sphaericum, Pseudocalanus minutus, Pseudodiaptomus coronatus and Tisbe furcata. Among these, Monstrilla anglica (Monstrilloida) and the Harpacticoida: Onychocamptus horrida, and Parategastes sphaericum, represent 3 new species in Canadian Atlantic coastal waters.
Acartia tonsa is the most abundant species, with some others such as: Oithona similis, Acartia clausi, and Centropages hamatus, which exceed 100,000 specimens per cubic meter.
