Summary

The author presents his world-wide repertory of freshwater Calanoida. A tentative phylogenetic tree of the Copepoda is presented (fig. 1), taking into account characters of naupliar musculature (either simple or complex). Problems relating to general copepod macro-systematics as well as relating to the difficulties encountered in the limitation of taxa in the (discontinuous) freshwater habitat, are discussed.
