Abstract

This chapter adopts the data from the Tracking Survey on Family Development in China 2014 to analyze the size and structure of the population living in the same family household, discuss the impact of such factors as living, marriage and childbearing, so as to identify the possible problems in family development and offer suggestions for improving the family policy. According to relevant research, with the impact of such factors as marriage, childbearing and migration, the size of the population living in the same family household has been fewer than three, the family households with one generation have become dominant, the structure of members living in one family has been dominated by the core family, the proportion of one-people households is relatively high. Under the new situation, it is necessary to carry out a package of reforms involving the family, including coordinating various departments to introduce incentive measures for supporting policy-based childbearing, establishing and improving a family service system and pushing forward the work on family development.
