Abstract

Chinaâs economic growth rate generally kept decreasing from a high level in 2015; it decreased to 6.9% in the third quarter, but that decrease was smaller than the previous two years; the economy generally maintained a medium and high growth rate, and performed within an appropriate range; meanwhile, China witnessed the transformation of the economic developmental mode, industrial transformation and upgrading, the deepening of the economic structural adjustment and the entry of economic development into the crucial stage of changing growth drivers. Against such a background, Chinaâs employment situation remained generally stable and also exhibited some new characteristics of change, some new developments and new problems to which attention should be paid. As China has been vigorously pushing forward mass entrepreneurship and innovation, a new pattern in which entrepreneurship stimulates employment has taken shape and a remarkable development has been achieved. Looking into 2016, we are cautiously optimistic about the employment situation: on the one hand, the impact of the economic slowdown on employment has gradually loomed large; on the other hand, the Central Governmentâs great attention to employment and active employment policy are greatly conducive to driving employment upward, but structural problems cannot be neglected, it is necessary to uphold a new philosophy regarding development, maintain moderate economic growth, firmly carry forward industrial transformation and upgrading, proactively resolve structural employment contradictions and the unemployment risk amidst the change in growth drivers, and energetically press ahead with mass entrepreneurship and innovation to achieve economic development and employment growth in a coordinated way.
