Strains of the genus Lactobacillus is the far most used probiotic bacteria. Lactobacillus generally recognize as safe (GRAS). Lactobacilli, in some cases, can play a beneficial role by inhibiting the growth of some oral pathogenic bacteria. The aim of this work was to investigate the biofilm production of 24 oral lactobacilli that could be used as probiotics for oral health. 24 strains were screened for antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans. The inhibitory activity was investigated with the agar overlay technique. We then carried out a biofilm assay on microtiter plate method. It was noticed as a result, 3 bacteria were produced strongly adherent, 4 bacteria are moderately adherent, 15 bacteria are weakly adherent biofilms. 2 bacteria didn’t produce biofilms. Lactobacillus strains also showed antimicrobial property against S. mutans.
