In this work the bio-hydrogen of agro-industrial wastewaters was determined. It has been observed that the bio-hydrogen potential when fermenting glucose and fructose were similar. The bio-hydrogen potential of the glucose was about 1.2 mol of bio-hydrogen per mol of glucose and the bio-hydrogen potential of the fructose was slightly lower, about 1 mol of bio-hydrogen per mol of fructose. Once studied the single substrate fermentation, a mixed substrate wastewater containing known amounts of glucose and fructose was fermented. From this test the bio-hydrogen potential of a general agro-industrial wastewater was determined. The bio-hydrogen generated was slightly higher, about a 10% higher, than the additive contributions of the main substrates contained in the agro-industrial wastewaters, in general glucose and fructose.
