Abstract

The chapter considers to which extent the Chinese Civil Code can be used as a tool for Chinese ‘legal diplomacy’ in Africa. After a short overview of the concept of ‘legal diplomacy’ and how it has been used by China, the chapter discusses its implications on China-Africa relations and then evaluates the role that the Civil Code can play in this respect.
