Abstract

On the assumption that Chinese law is anchored in the continental legal family, whose pluralism it nourishes, the chapter analyzes the most characteristic features of the Chinese Civil Code as a civil law codification, focussing in particular on the Code’s structure, on its intended recipients, and on its scope. The survey is functional to assess the lessons that the Chinese Civil Code could teach to continental European lawyers.
