Abstract

The aim of the study is to perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of the views of Polish political leaders on holding the 2020 presidential election during the pandemic and the restrictions that were related to it. Leaders of the government coalition parties did not devote any parliamentary speeches to the issue of the presidential election at that time. In contrast, leaders of the opposition parties spoke frequently on the matter in question and expressed their criticism of the government in almost every speech concerning the coming election. Their main positions and demands included: postponement of the original date of the election of 10 May 2020, introduction of a state of natural disaster, rejection of the bill to hold the election by mail, as well as calling into question the equality of the election campaign.
