This chapter provides an overview of the teacher education system in Korea and reviews a sample curriculum of preparatory program for mathematics teachers in elementary and secondary schools. Since Korea is a country with an oversupply of pre-service teachers, extremely competitive tests are administered to filter pre-service teachers. The Teacher Employment Test to recruit mathematics teachers is explained in detail including the components of the test and sample items. The identity of the discipline ‘mathematics education’ is discussed with the metaphor of mixture and compound. After reviewing literature on Pedagogical Content Knowledge and related concepts, more emphasis on PCK in teacher training program is suggested.
