Abstract

The chapter analyzes the positions and actions taken by the Law and Justice (PiS), the largest and most important party in the ruling coalition, and the Civic Platform of the Republic of Poland (PO RP), which is the largest and most important opposition group in Poland, in view of holding elections for office of the President of the Republic of Poland during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020. Moreover, the activities of Andrzej Duda, who is running for re-election, with the support of PiS and MaÅgorzata Kidawa BÅoÅska, and then RafaÅ Trzaskowski, i.e. candidates nominated by the PO RP to fight for the highest office in the state were examined. There was also analyzed incl. what was the attitude of the above-mentioned groupings and their candidates to the organization of the elections of the head of state during the developing COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to the conduct of the election campaign, both before the missed vote and when the decision to hold elections was finally made.
