Die zwei BÃ¤nde der Prosopographie von RÃ¶mischer Inquisition und Indexkongregation 1814-1817, erarbeitet von Dr. Herman H. Schwedt in Zusammenarbeit mit Tobias Lagatz und publiziert unter der wissenschaftlichen Leitung von Professor Hubert Wolf, sind ein herausragender Beitrag zur Geschichte der RÃ¶mischen Kurie und zum Papsttum des 19. Jahrhunderts. Die vorliegende beeindruckende Prosopographie erÃ¶ffnet eine wichtige Etappe und zudem neue Wege zur historischen VerstÃ¤ndlichkeit. Im vorliegenden Beitrag werden einige Beobachtungen beleuchtet, in Bezug auf die Geschichtsschreibung, die Methodologie oder in Bezug auf die historische Situation des Werkes und auf den Beitrag der Prosopographie der Konsultoren des Index zu einer Vertiefung einer kulturellen und intellektuellen Geschichte der RÃ¶mischen Kurie des 19. Jahrhunderts; auÃerdem wird ein allgemeiner chronologischer und geographischer Vergleich angestellt werden.

I due volumi della Prosopographie von RÃ¶mischer Inquisition und Indexkongregation 1814-1917, elaborati dal Dottor Herman H. Schwedt colla collaborazione di Tobias Lagatz e pubblicati sotto la direzione scientifica del professore Hubert Wolf, costituiscono un contributo fondamentale alla storia della Curia Romana e del Papato dell'Ottocento. Apre questa impressionnante prosopografia una tappa importante e delle vie nuove all'intelligenza storica. Si vorrebbe qui delineare brevemente alcune osservazioni di tipo storiografico, metodologico o prospettivo sulla situazione storiografica dell'opera, sul contributo della prosopografia dei consultori dell'Indice all'approfondimento di una storia culturale ed intellettuale della Curia Romana dell'Ottocento, e infine sulle prospettive di un paragone di tipo insieme cronologico e geografico.

The two volumes of the Prosopographie von RÃ¶mischer Inquisition und Indexkongregation 1814-1817, compiled by Dr. Herman H. Schwedt in collaboration with Tobias Lagatz and published under the academic guidance of Professor Hubert Wolf, may be characterized as an outstanding contribution to the history of the Roman Curia and the papacy in the nineteenth century. The impressing prosopography opens an important stage as well as new ways towards a historic comprehensibility. This essay attempts to illuminate some observations concerning historiography, methodology or the historical situation of the opus and the contribution of the prosopography of the Index's consultors to a consolidation of the cultural and intellectual history of the Roman Curia in the nineteenth century; moreover, a general chronological and geographic comparison is presented.
