I processi a Rosmini e Gioberti tra Indice e Santâ Uffizio: Problemi e sospetti (1848-1854)

Die Prozesse gegen Antonio Rosmini und Vincenzo Gioberti, den zwei wichtigsten christlichen Philosophen, die sich im Italien des 19. Jahrhunderts hervortaten, bedÃ¼rfen besonderer Aufmerksamkeit. Wenn man das Ziel verfolgt, eine Geschichte der Institutionen der Kirche zu entwickeln, die sich mit den VerÃ¶ffentlichungen und geistigen Manifestationen im 19. Jahrhundert beschÃ¤ftigt, erkennt man, dass das bewegte Schicksal der beiden Philosophen eine HÃ¤rteprobe der âGesundheit" der Indexkongregation und des Heiligen Offiziums ist. Wenn man ihre Falle miteinander vergleicht, so entdeckt man, dass die beiden repressiven und inquisitorischen Institutionen der katholischen

Kirche mit ModalitÃ¤ten operierten, die heute eine âpolitische" InstrumentalitÃ¤t durchscheinen lassen. Beide Denker vertraten die reformatorische Denkweise und politisch gesehen im Hinblick auf den laizistisch-liberalen Staat eine versÃ¶hnliche Tendenz, die von einigen Gruppierungen innerhalb der katholischen Kirche bekÃ¤mpft wurde. Die einschneidenden VorfÃ¤lle im Wirken der beiden Philosophen, die das Einschreiten der beiden Kongregationen hervorriefen, sollen hier dargestellt werden. Der Autor des vorliegenden Beitrags beschÃ¤ftigt sich seit einigen Jahren, praktisch seit der Ãffnung des Archivs der Kongregation fÃ¼r die Glaubenslehre, mit den gegen die beiden Denker eingeleiteten Prozessen (1849-1854), einem bezeichnenden Gewirr zwischen der eingetretenen und vereitelten Verurteilung der Werke Rosminis und des Verbots der Werke Giobertis. Die MÃ¶glichkeit, gegen Rosmini und Gioberti zu prozessieren, wurde eingehend geprÃ¼ft und von den Vertretern der beiden Institutionen unterschiedlich beurteilt. Zwischen diesen KardinÃ¤len und Konsultoren kam es jedoch nicht zu Streit und offensichtlichen Meinungsverschie- denheiten, man hob im Gegenteil im Einklang mit den guten Sitten an der Kurie eine besÃ¤nftigende und maskierte Spannung zwischen den Verfechtern eines Verbotes und den FÃ¶rderern einer âEinstellung" der Prozesse hervor

Il caso dei processi che furono intentati contro Antonio Rosmini e Vincenzo Gioberti, i due principali filosoficristiani fioriti in Italia nel secolo XIX, richiede particolare attenzione. Ai fini di tracciare una storia delle istituzioni della Chiesa che si occuparono delle pubblicazioni e delle manifestazioni di pensiero nell'Ottocento, la sorte toccata ai due filosoficostituisce una prova della stessa "salute" delle Congregazioni dell'Indice e del Santo Uffizio. Nell'affrontare i loro casi, infatti, le istituzioni repressive ed inquisitive della Chiesa cattolica, operarono secondo modalitÃ che rivelano oggi una strumentalitÃ "politica". Entrambi i pensatori rappresentavano quel pensiero riformistico e, in politica, di tendenza conciliatorista nei confronti dello Stato laicoliberale, che fu avversato da parecchi ambienti nella Chiesa cattolica. Si presentano le vicende significative dei due filosofiper quel che riguardÃ² l'intervento di entrambe le Congregazioni. Da alcuni anni, in pratica dall'apertura dell'Archivio della Congregazione per la Dottrina della Fede, l'autore di questa relazione si sta occupando dei processi intentati ai due pensatori, portando alla luce tutti i documenti relativi ad essi. La relazione si occupa degli esordi dei processi (1849-1854), in un intreccio significativo tra le condanne avvenute ed evitate delle opere di Rosmini e le condanne delle opere giobertiane. La possibilitÃ di intentare processi contro Rosmini e Gioberti venne vagliata e diversamente giudicata dai rappresentanti delle due Istituzioni. Questi, consultori e cardinali, non arrivarono a scontri od a palesi contrasti, ma evidenziarono una tensione, sopita e mascherata, secondo i buoni costumi curiali, tra i fautori di una condanna ed i fautori di una "dimissione" delle cause.

The processes against Antonio Rosmini and Vincenzo Gioberti, the two most important Christian philosophers that came up in nineteenth century Italy, require special attention. When aiming at compiling a history of the ecclesiastical institutions that dealt with the publications and intellectual manifestations in the nineteenth century it becomes very obvious that the moved destinies of both philosophers mark a test of the "sanity" of the Congregation of the Index and the Holy Office. A comparison of both cases shows that these repressive and inquisitorial institutions of the Catholic Church used modalities that today reveal a certain "political" instrumentality. Both thinkers represented the reformatory way of thinking and maintained a conciliatory tendency in political concerns, as far as a laic-liberal State was concerned, which was fought against by several groups within the Catholic Church. The incisive points in the works of both philosophers, which finally evoked the intervention of both congregations, will be presented in this essay. Its author has for some years, virtually ever since the opening of the Archive of the Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith, been studying the processes against these two philosophers (1849-1854), which altogether constitute an indicative snarl between the eventuated and impeded condemnation of Rosmini's works and the effective prohibition of Gioberti's works. The right to litigate against Rosmini and Gioberto was scrutinized and evaluated differently by members of both institutions. Among these cardinals and consultors there were, however, no controversies or blatant disagreements; on the contrary, in accordance with the good manners at the Curia a disarming and masked tension was maintained between the asserters of a condemnation and the supporters of a "dismissal" of the cases.
