When teachers take on the new role of tutors in PBL, training is needed. Since, in France and Belgium, this is often the first experience of teacher training in higher education; a wider conception of teaching must be considered. What then, are the key elements to be addressed in a tutor training course? Building on the literature and our own experience of tutor training we have developed a programme based on five modules. This chapter discusses how the course meets the needs and questions of PBL tutors in engineering. Three major issues affecting its efficiency are also addressed: cultural attitudes to teaching, the need to experience PBL for oneself and self assessment.
