Acacia gum is a soluble dietary fibre from selected Acacia tree exudates obtained without any neither chemical nor enzymatic process. With more than 90% soluble fibre on dry extract (AOAC 985.29), Acacia gum Fibregum™ is a complex ramified arabinogalactan polysaccharide remarkable for its high molecular weight and its low viscosity. Besides its functional properties and its technological compatibility, clinical studies have proven the various health benefits of Acacia gum. Its prebiotic effect has been proven by human studies also showing a high fermentability with no side effects even at high level. Acacia gum stimulates the development of beneficial bacteria and the production of short chain fatty acids and thus helps to regulate different functions such as gut transit or lipids metabolism. Moreover its encapsulating properties make it a proven efficient protection to improve the viability of probiotic strains. Latest clinical studies show the hypoglycaemic impact of Acacia gum. Postprandial glucose response in healthy as well as in type II diabetic subjects was lowered after consumption of Acacia gum.
