Ce travail propose une lecture critique de lâouvrage La Place (1983) dâAnnie Ernaux dans le cadre dâune rÃ©flexion thÃ©orique autour des dynamiques dâintÃ©gration, de dÃ©sintÃ©gration et de rÃ©intÃ©gration sociales propres Ã la trajectoire de lâÃ©crivaine entre son milieu dâorigine et celui crÃ©Ã© dâabord par le biais des Ã©tudes et ensuite grÃ¢ce Ã la crÃ©ation littÃ©raire. Le cas dâAnnie Ernaux est particuliÃ¨rement pertinent en ce quâelle demeure en marge de ce systÃ¨me, oscillant dans un espace dâentre-deux ambigu, agrÃ©geant autour dâelle des lecteurs dans une nouvelle communautÃ© dont elle faÃ§onne les contours et dont les limites se rÃ©vÃ¨lent mouvantes. Son vÃ©cu en tant que transfuge de classe installe un conflit identitaire dans son rapport Ã des Â«âcommunautÃ©s interprÃ©tativesâÂ» distinctes mais tout aussi dÃ©terminantes dans son parcours. Le choix dâune approche autobiographique intÃ©grant une Ã©criture quâelle nomme Â«âplateâÂ» annonce ici une nouvelle posture littÃ©raire.

Abstract

This study offers a critical reading of Annie Ernauxâs work La Place (1983) in the context of a theoretical reflection regarding dynamics of social integration, disintegration and reinstatement reflected in the writerâs path from her original environment towards the one created as a consequence of her academic studies and literary production. Annie Ernauxâs case is particularly relevant in that she remains on the fringe of this system, wavering in an ambiguous âin-betweenâ space, aggregating a vast number of readers in a new community that she continuously shapes the contours and whose borders and limits are inherently instable and moving. Her experience as a class defector establishes an identity conflict in the way she deals with these simultaneously distinct and significant âinterpretive communitiesâ. The autobiographical approach integrating a stylistic typology that Ernaux names âflat writingâ (Ã©criture plate) announces here a new literary stance.
