Acknowledgments
This volume emerged in the context of a linguistics workshop for prospective teachers of English as a Foreign Language taught at Leibniz University Hannover (Germany) two times in 2022. In the workshops, the participants worked on Selinker’s concept of interlanguage (in the broader context of English as a Lingua Franca) and applied this knowledge to English language teaching. The workshops were funded by the Niedersächsisches Ministerium für Wissenschaft und Kultur as part of the program “Innovation Plus 2022/2023,” which supports the implementation of innovative teaching practices at universities in the German state of Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) of Germany. We want to thank the students that took part in the workshops and participated actively in all the assignments and group discussions, inspiring us to set up this volume.
The editors sincerely thank all authors for their insightful contributions and their collaboration in this project. We would also like to extend our gratitude to all reviewers for generously reading drafts of the chapters and providing valuable feedback. Finally, let us thank Brill’s production team for their support, in particular John Bennett, Katerina Sofianou and Jolanda Karada.
