Abstract

In the relatively short time of its membership in the WTO Russia has used the WTO dispute resolution system very actively, both as a complainant and as a respondent. Russiaâs experience in WTO dispute settlement is unfolded against a backdrop of profound political acrimony between Russia and some of its largest trading partners, including Russiaâs largest trading partner, the European Union. The chapter analyzes in depth three cases with the participation of Russia (and the EU and Ukraine) and evaluates to which degree Russiaâs disputes have a political dimension.
