Abstract

The 21st Century is characterised by complexity and uncertainty with the rapid pace of technological advances. The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has further imposed a grave challenge to the educational sector at large. The notion of teacher agency has drawn wide attention recently in the field of teacher education for empowering teachersâ professional development in their workplace. The purpose of this chapter is to explore how professional growth (PG) can be reimagined through the adoption of an action research project with the empirical materials drawn from the case stories of three primary mathematics teachers joining in the project. The findings of the study unfolded the ART (Action Research for Transformation) for promoting the kind of âprofessional agencyâ for enhancing teachersâ awareness and actions in developing creative and innovative pedagogy in mathematics classrooms.
