Abstract

Agronomists-rural advisors (ARA s) are key players for community wellbeing and the sustainability of our planet. Being change agents, they need to develop an appropriate profile (based on scientific knowledge, skills and values) that would position themselves as cultivators of a collective agency. Within this perspective, it is also crucial to support the students at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) to develop the relevant 21st century competences. In this chapter, we present the theoretical bedrock and aspects of the findings of an experimental class (conducted with 57 AUA students) that investigated the impact of experiential learning, nature connectedness and “anthropomorphic” empathy for our planet on the mindset and the development of ARA s.
