This chapter discusses the call for an African Renaissance. It posits that this emancipatory vision is for nought if it does not involve an openness to and turn to our mongrelness. Beginning with some notes on the concept of the African Renaissance, it will explain the mongrel framework as a boon for social justice. Logically, while talking about the African Renaissance, it will be necessary to go backwards to set out a working sense of why we are concerned about re-awakening Africans from colonially induced social deaths.
