This chapter aims to tie the colonial land grab to the dehumanisation of the colonised. It will contend that the taking of land from the natives is a pivotal point in setting the colonised apart as lowlifes. Concerted efforts will go into thinking about key concepts such as ‘lowlife’ and ‘zombie’. In doing this, it will be remembered that coloniality lies in the ontologically vertical relations that order human societies as I home in on a scenario in which Blacks are driven down to the level of zombies and dogs—the pits of lowlife. The chapter will stress the corrective social justice possibilities advanced by mongrelity.
