Raheema Abdul Raheem
is the Director of Research of the Maldives National University. In her post as the director of research, she oversees and leads the research development and projects at the university. She is also the vice-chair of the university ethics committee. Raheema is the Chief-editor of the Maldives National Journal of Research. Raheema holds a PhD in Public Health and has a number of publications in the area of public health and health promotion.
Asim Abdul Sattar
was appointed as the Dean of Faculty of Arts on 1st August 2018. Since then, he has started to develop new programs and research work in the areas mandated to the faculty specifically in the areas of language studies, political science, governance and visual arts, library sciences and history. Mr. Asim also actively participated in formulation of new regulations and policies as a university council member when the university was established in 2011. Mr. Asim strongly believes that schooling and learning should focus more on dealing with real life and uncertain future challenges. He also advocates learning and assessing tasks should be more meaningful, useful and purposeful.
Abebaw Yirga Adamu
is Associate Professor of Higher Education at Addis Ababa University. He holds a PhD in Education and Society from University of Tampere, Finland; an MA in Lifelong Learning Policy and Management from University of Aarhus, University of London, and University of Deusto; and an MEd in Multicultural and Multilingual Education from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Adamu was director of the Ethiopian institute for Higher Education, and director of quality assurance at EiABC, Addis Ababa University. He was NAFSA Global Dialogue Fellow (2019–2020) and IREX Research Management Fellow (2019). He is member of the education sector professional advisory council of the Ministry of Education, Ethiopia.
Nadhiya Ahmed
is a Lecturer at the Center for Foundation Studies (CFS) of the Maldives National University (MNU). Nadhiya Specializes in Mathematics and Education. She was the former Dean of Students and the Acting Examination Controller of MNU. She has represented the members of the Academic Senate in the University Council. She is a member of the advisory board of CFS and a member of the
Sulaiman M. Al-Balushi
is a Professor of Science Education and Director of Quality Assurance at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman. He served as the Dean of College of Education (SQU) (2014–2020) and a visiting scholar at the University of Exeter (2020–2021). He is also a member of the Board of the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority (OAAA) and a member of different journal advisory and editorial boards. He has also been awarded different national and international awards in university teaching and research. He contributed largely in leading the SQU College of Education to attain the international academic accreditation by NCATE in the USA in 2016.
Misida Al Jahwari
is an Assistant Professor of Organizational Change and HRM at Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) with a PhD in Management (Organizational Change) from Aston University. She has 19 years of teaching experience in higher education. She is a researcher, consultant, trainer, and entrepreneur. Her research interests are in the areas of Organizational Change and HRM. Dr. Misida is a faculty fellow of the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning at SQU, a department chair of examinations and grading and an active member and leader in various university committees. She is currently leading a major restructuring project and heading a contract review team for the university’s largest service contracts.
Sheeza Ali
is the founding Dean of the School of Medicine, The Maldives National University. Prior to joining MNU, she served as the Director General of Health Services at the Ministry of Health. Through her work with government agencies and national and international organizations, she worked to develop and expand the services provided by the government health facilities. As the chair of the National Health Research Committee, Dr. Sheeza represented Maldives at WHO South East Asia Advisory Committee on Health Research (ACHR). She has great passion for research and published a number of papers on peer-reviewed international journals. After completing MBBS and specializing in MCPS and FCPS in Ophthalmology, she did MBA.
Nana Afua Kumiwaa Asante
is an Assistant Lecturer at GIMPA. She holds a Bachelor’s Honours degree (First Class) in Psychology from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Master of Science degree in Business Administration (Marketing) from GIMPA. She believes in the principles of responsible research; and is also interested in social marketing and consumer behaviour pertaining to mental health and substance abuse among adolescents and young adults. She is currently a PhD candidate in Business Management and Administration at the University of Stellenbosch Business School.
Koyel Basu
is Assistant Professor, Grade II at the Department of Political Science, Jangipur College affiliated with Kalyani University, West Bengal, India. She has been teaching for more than 12 years. Dr. Koyel earned her doctorate from Jadhavpur University, Kolkata on Human Rights and State Politics: Case Studies of Assam, West Bengal and Punjab (1970–2000) in 2015. She has written for several multidisciplinary journals both national and have participated in several national and international conferences.
Raosaheb Bawaskar
is a Faculty of Political Science at Maharashtra National Law University, Aurangabad, India. He is also a Founding Director of VGF’s Water Policy Centre (www.wpc.org.in) Aurangabad, India. Previously, he taught Politics and International Relations for more than 10 years in various prestigious colleges in Mumbai city. He is also a Guest Faculty at National Law University, Odisha, India; The University of Mumbai, & SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. Mr. Raosaheb is the recipient of ICSSR- Doctoral Fellowship to research BRICS & Global Power Shift at the University of Mumbai. Apart from this, Mr. Bawaskar has been invited to present his research at several international conferences held in Singapore, China, India & South Africa. He has published numerous research articles in Scopus indexed journals, book chapters, and commentaries to prominent media. He writes on BRICS, global power shift, China’s foreign policy, and water diplomacy.

Tymofii Brik
is the Head of Sociological Studies at Kyiv School of Economics. Prior to this appointment he was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at New York University (2019–2020), and a Visiting Vucinich Fellow at the Stanford Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies (spring 2018). He received his PhD from the University of Carlos III in 2017, and his MSc at Utrecht University in 2013. Tymofii’s paper on religious supply and church competition in Ukraine, published in the Sociology of Religion, won him an award for “Best young sociologist in Ukraine in 2018.” His recent studies appeared as chapters in compilations published by Palgrave Macmillan, Routledge, and Ibidem-Verlag.
Laurette Bristol
(Ph.D.) is currently serving as the Programme Manager, Human Resource Development at the CARICOM Secretariat. She has over 25 years’ experience in the education arena as a practicing primary school teacher, a Teacher Educator and Tertiary Education administrator. Her research emphasises the historical impact of the colonial experience on classroom practices, prefiguring post-colonial educational aspirations and actions. More specifically she has an international research profile that crosses the fields of professional development, mentoring, leadership, and school transformation.
Edward Choi
lecturer at Underwood International College, Yonsei University, received his Ph.D. in higher education from the Lynch School of Education, Boston College. He worked as a Research Assistant at the Center for International Higher Education, Boston College, a research institute devoted to the promotion of international perspectives in higher education scholarship and practice. Prior to Boston College, Edward received his M.A. in international education development from Teacher`s College, Columbia University. He has co-edited books as well as authored and co-authored articles and book chapters on a range of topics relating to Korean higher education, traditional Korean education, the internationalization of higher education, and the global phenomenon of family-owned universities.
Theresa Coye
has over 29 years of experience in the multilingual and multicultural classrooms. She has taught and developed curricula in Multicultural and Transnational Literature, Rhetoric and Composition in English, General Linguistics, Literary Theory and Criticism, Children’s Literature, Teaching English as a Second or Other Language (TESOL), and Higher Education Instruction. Ms. Coye is a member of the Faculty of Education & Arts of the University of Belize (UB) and sits on several committees including the Graduate Studies and Research Committee of UB. Her current research projects include non-traditional Caribbean research methodologies, embodied educational practice in higher education, and the decolonizing practices of spiritual pedagogy and hope.
Joyanne De Four-Babb
serves as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Education and Arts, University of Belize. Her research focuses on the development of identity, being and becoming, among various populations, such as teachers, business leaders, and women priests. She has also focused on peer mentoring among women faculty, spirituality, practical experiences of learning to teach and comparative collaboration as an emerging methodology. Her work has been published in Mentoring & Tutoring: Partnership in Learning, Professing Education, The Journal of Educational Research, Caribbean Curriculum, Power and Education, and The Journal of Pan African Studies.
Claudia Schiedeck Soares de Souza
is an Emeriti Professor of Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Sul (IFRS) – Campus Bento Gonçalves, in Bento Gonçalves, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. She is also the first Rector of IFRS (2008–2015) and was a visiting scholar at Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE)University of Toronto. She holds a Ph.D. in Education from Universidade do Vale do Rio dos Sinos (UNISINOS). Her research interests are internationalization and comparative studies in vocational education and training.
Mahmoud M. Emam
is a Professor and Head of the Department of Psychology at Sultan Qaboos University. He holds a PhD from the University of Manchester, Master from the University of London, the UK. He obtained two Fulbright scholarships at the University of Kansas and University of Florida in the USA. He obtained a number of grants from His Majesty’s Research Trust in Oman, and other internal grants He previously served as the Head of the Assessment Unit at the College of Education and was a member of the Accreditation Steering Committee
Hakan Ergin
holds a doctoral degree from Boğaziçi University. As an international graduate student, he previously studied at the State University of New York at Binghamton, U.S. and Wurzburg University, Germany. He has recently worked at the Boston College Center for International Higher Education as a postdoctoral scholar under the supervision of Professor Hans de Wit. His academic interests include internationalization of higher education, digitalization of higher education, refugees in higher education, the right to higher learning, quality in higher education and brain drain. He teaches at universities in several countries, leads projects and provides consultation on inter/national higher education.
Talia Esnard
(Ph.D.) is a sociologist and Head of Department of Behavioural Sciences. Her work centers on matters related to work and organizations with some focus on female entrepreneurs and academics. Some of her work has been published in NASPA Journal about Women in Higher Education, Women, Gender and Families of Colour, and Mentoring and Tutoring: Learning in Partnership Journal. She has co-authored/edited books on the tenure process, diversity, mompreneur, mentoring and critical praxis. She was also a Taiwan Research Fellow (2012) attached to the National Chengchi University, Muzha, Taiwan, and a Visitor Scholar (Brock and Ryerson Universities).
Victor Gekara
is a Professor at RMIT University College of Business and Law. He is a multidisciplinary researcher whose work is developed at the intersection of Sociology of work, Political Economy and Management. In this space, he has developed and led several major research projects exploring the impacts of industrial transformations on employment, work and workforce skills. Professor Gekara is internationally recognised for his extensive scholarly contributions in this broad area but also specifically on national responses through education and training policies and strategies. He has more recently focused on technology-mediated transformations of work the impact on workers skills and employment outcomes.

Lisa Ibrahim-Joseph
is an Education and Research Officer at the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association, Lisa Ibrahim-Joseph is an experienced educator with over 32 years of service that has spanned all levels from nursery to tertiary. Having coined a personal credo that states, “Education Changes Lives; Let’s Change Lives Together”, Lisa believes in the value of education as an ongoing life-transforming process. She currently serves as Programme Coordinator of the Certificate in ECCE at UWI-ROYTEC. Lisa holds an M.Ed. (Curriculum Studies) from UWI, St. Augustine and an M.Ed. (Leadership in Early Childhood Development) from UWI, Mona.
Aishath Shaheen Ismail
was appointed as the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs on 14th November 2019. Most of Ms. Ismail’s career has been serving the Maldives National University (MNU), starting in 1993 as an Assistant Tutor, moving to the post of Senior Lecturer and serving as the Dean of Faculty of Health Sciences from 2011 to 2019. Additionally, she served as a member of Maldives Board of Health Sciences, Maldives Allied Health Council and National Health Research Committee. Currently she is a member of National Health Research Council and a member of the advisory Board of Judicial Academy.
Shin Young Kang
is a Ph.D. candidate and an independent researcher. She has working experience in the university community as an adjunct professor and in administrative affairs. She became interested in comparative culture based on her study and work experience in Korea and the international community. Her focus is on researching cross-disciplinary studies in various fields.

Barbara M. Kehm
received her PhD in 1989 and started to specialize on research about higher education in 1990. She worked as a professor of higher education research at Kassel University (Germany) and at the University of Glasgow (UK). In addition, she has held various guest professorships abroad. Currently she is a Fellow at the Leibniz Research Center for Science and Society at the University of Hannover (Germany). She has published widely in her field (more than 30 books and over 300 book chapters and journal articles) and is specialised on issues of governance and internationalisation in higher education.
Pransu Khakurel

Jussi Kivistö
is Professor at the Higher Education Group, Faculty of Management and Business, Tampere University, Finland. Kivistö has over 15 years of experience leading of higher education management programmes. He has served as consultant for the World Bank and acted as PI/researcher in several national and international research and development projects. Kivistö has authored more than 120 publications, mainly in the field of higher education management and policy.
Iryna Kogut
is the researcher of educational inequalities and policies in Ukraine. Currently she works as the MP assistant at the Ukrainian Parliament. She was the senior researcher at the independent think-tank CEDOS and an internal expert at Kyiv School of Economics.
Vuokko Kohtamäki
is a Senior Lecturer at Tampere University, Faculty of Management and Business, Finland. She is teaching and supervising doctoral and master’s students specifying higher education administration. Kohtamäki is an academic leader of the one-year national expert training programme Higher Education Management and Administration. Her research interests include financial autonomy, governance, leadership and management in higher education.
Fernanda Leal
(Ph.D.) is an executive assistant at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), Brazil, a Faculty at the Universidade Federal de Sergipe, Brazil, and was a visiting scholar at the Center for International Higher Education (CIHE), Boston College, United States, from August 2018 to March 2020. She holds a Ph.D. in Administration from Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (UDESC). Her research interests comprise internationalization, South-South relations, and (De)coloniality in higher education.
Bernardo Sfredo Miorando
(Ph.D.) is an institutional development fellow at Universidade Federal de Ciências da Saúde de Porto Alegre (UFCSPA), in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and was a visiting scholar at the Finnish Institute for Educational Research (FIER), University of Jyväskylä, Finland. He holds a Ph.D. in Education from Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). His research interests involve evaluation, innovation, and politics in comparative and international higher education.
Regina Garza Mitchell
is a Full Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, Research, and Technology at Western Michigan University. She teaches courses in educational leadership, adult learning, and qualitative research methods. Her research focuses on leadership and technology, primarily in community colleges.
Sibusiso Moyo
holds a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Natal and a Masters in Tertiary Education Management from the LH Martin Institute, University of Melbourne. As a scholar, she has published widely in the Mathematical Sciences with a focus on differential equations and optimization problems. She has served in various capacities at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) as Associate Director and Professor in the Department of Mathematics, Statistics and Physics, Director of Research and Postgraduate Support up to mid-2017 and Deputy Vice Chancellor for Research Innovation and Engagement.

holds a PhD in science, worked as a postdoctoral scholar at a Malaysian university in science field, and currently works as an Assistant Professor at Research Development Office of The Maldives National University. She teaches science subjects, carries out research projects and supervises research students. She has further worked on and has been working on social science related research projects. Fazeel Najeeb
(Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor at the Maldives National University. His main research interests are in the area of public policy, including socio-economic studies, economic policy, trade policy, international economic law, food security and linguistic studies. He is also editor of the Maldives Economic Review. Before joining the MNU he was an expert (advisor) at Qatar Central Bank, governor and ex officio chairman of the Maldives Monetary Authority and director of international trade policy and acted as chief trade negotiator at the Ministry of Economic Development.
Fulufhelo Netswera
is a Professor of Development Sociology and an Executive Dean of the Faculty of Management Sciences at the Durban University of Technology. He served previously as the Director of the North West University Business School and Deputy Dean of Management Sciences at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology. He writes in higher education policy and management, public governance, entrepreneurship and philanthropy. He has a keen interest in the social justice role that higher education institutions. His research focus has been in the areas of environmental (climate Change), public sector macroeconomics and development issues with specific interest in Trade-poverty-environment relationships, Public Private Partnership, Private Sector Development, knowledge economy and institutional efficiency. Iván F. Pacheco
(Ph.D.) is a Research Fellow at the Center for International Higher Education in Boston College, and the Editor of the Revista de Educación Superior en América Latina, ESAL. He has consulted for the World Bank, the Council of the Advancement of Higher Education (CASE), and other organizations, including universities and governments. Formerly Iván was the Director for Quality Assurance at the Colombian Ministry of Higher Education. Among his publications are: Twelve Challenges for the Colombian Higher Education (co-edited with Alberto Roa-Varelo), and Paying the Professoriate (co-edited with Philip Altbach et al.).
Lisa Perez
has been a lecturer at The University of Trinidad and Tobago for thirteen years in the Centre of Education Programmes. As a teacher educator she is particularly interested in developing innovation and entrepreneurship among teachers of agricultural science and business education. Mariyam Fizaana Rashyd
is currently working as a lecturer at the Faculty of Education, The Maldives National University (MNU). She was the Former Dean of the Faculty of Education, MNU. She is currently pursuing PhD at Open University Malaysia. She graduated with a Bachelor of Primary Education from Maldives College of Higher Education, and completed her Master’s in Education from Open University Malaysia. She also did her Post Graduate Diploma in Research from Villa College, Maldives. She has been serving MNU since 2007 till date. holds a PhD in Economics. She has teaching experience at several universities in Tokyo, such as Temple University, Japan Campus (2010–2011) and Meiji University (2011–2018). Since 2017, Dr. Shadrina has been teaching at Waseda University, where she offers courses on socio-economic transformations in Russia and Eurasia and sustainable economic development. Her research interests embrace topics of conventional and renewable energy policy and political economy of energy transitions.
Shimna Shakeeb
completed a Master’s degree at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia, and a Bachelor of Arts degree at La Trobe University, Australia. Her specialization areas are; English Language and Literature and Teaching, Learning and Assessment in Higher education. Currently, she is pursuing her PhD in the area of Teaching English Language and Blended Learning. Her research interests include: outcome-based pedagogy, assessment and evaluation, critical reflection and blended learning. In 2020, she published research based on Remote Online Teaching (ROT) in higher education context in response to COVID 19 pandemic. Aishath Shehenaz Adam
has been the Deputy Vice Chancellor at the Maldives National University since 14th November 2019. Dr. Adam obtained a PhD (2004) from the University of Auckland, followed by a Postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Alaska. She has worked in the Maldives education sector, being responsible for educational supervision, national assessment and quality improvement of schools. She has also published books and has contributed to a number of journals and education related projects. Dr. Adam also possesses experience in the Foreign Service as she served as the Ambassador of Maldives to Pakistan and United Arab Emirates.
Aizhan Shomotova
is a PhD Candidate in Leadership and Policy Studies in Education at College of Education (CEDU), UAE University. She completed her 2-year master’s degree in Corporate Management at Tongji University, Shanghai, China, and bachelor’s at KIMEP University, Kazakhstan, both with the highest distinctions. She has been working as a Graduate Research Assistant at different departments and co-authored several research projects. holds a Master’s degree in Development Studies from Kathmandu University, and is currently working as a social entrepreneur in a not-for-profit named Putali Nepal. She was awarded Chancellor Gold Medal for securing the highest CGPA in MA. Education, research, training, project management, entrepreneurship, leadership and mentorship are her areas of interest.
Agustian Sutrisno
lectures at the Graduate School, Faculty of Education and Language, Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia in Jakarta. Concurrently, he is a consultant for an Australian Government education development project in Indonesia – INOVASI. Having worked for the University of New South Wales and UNESCO, he completed his master’s at UNSW and PhD at Queensland University of Technology. His doctoral thesis received the University’s Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award and the 2015 Outstanding Post-Graduate Thesis Award from the International Education Association of Australia. In 2017, he was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Center for International Higher Education, Boston College.
Daniel Toro-Gonzalez
is the Provost at the Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar (Cartagena, Colombia), where he is also a Full Professor (Profesor Titular) and previously served for five years as the Dean of School of Economics and Business. He holds a PhD in Economics from Washington State University, through the Fulbright program. His academic career focuses on applied economics and game theory. He co-authored Strategy and Game Theory: Practice Exercises with Answers with Felix Muñoz-García (Springer 2016, 2019).

is an international doctoral student in the Education and Inequality program at The George Washington University where he is also a teaching assistant in the Masters in International Education Program. He holds an M.A. in International Higher Education from Boston College and an M.S. in Administration from Universidade do Vale do Rio do Sinos (Brazil). His research interests include the internationalization of Brazilian higher education, the international student experience in U.S. colleges and universities, and the role of networks in reducing inequality in international higher education.

She has 30 years of experience in education, including working as a chief academic officer at a community college and a graduate faculty member at a university. Her expertise ranges from university finance to marginalized student populations. Currently, she specializes in assisting municipalities seeking to build and fund scholarship programs.
Ayenachew A. Woldegiyorgis
is a research associate at the Center for International Higher Education (CIHE), Boston College, where he received his PhD in 2020. He holds an MSc in Research and Innovation in Higher Education (MARIHE) and MA in Public Administration. He has previously served at different capacities including as a faculty member at Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia) and consultant for the World Bank (Washington, DC), with a focus on higher education in low-income countries. During his time at CIHE he has also served as the managing editor of the International Journal of African Higher Education. His main areas of scholarship include higher education partnerships, internationalization of higher education, higher education and development, scientific diaspora engagement, and policy and governance in higher education.
