Numbers fall into two categories: cardinal numbers, which indicate quantity; and ordinal numbers, which indicate order.
The cardinal numbers from three to ten have the peculiarity that their morphological gender is the opposite of the syntactic gender of the noun that they modify (i.e., masculine nouns are quantified by morphologically feminine cardinals and feminine nouns by morphologically masculine cardinals).
The cardinals may be in construct with the noun being counted or in apposition with it.
The ordinal numbers second through tenth are formed by adding the adjectival ending [ARABIC TEXT] to the cardinal number and inserting, generally, another [ARABIC TEXT] between the second and third radicals.
