The pronominal suffixes attached to verbs indicate the direct object of the verb, and the pronouns are historically in the accusative case. The suffixes are similar in form to the suffixes attached to nouns. When suffixes are attached to a verb, the verb’s accent usually shifts, which changes the vocalization of the verb in accordance with the reduction rule.
