Nuances in the Hebrew verb are indicated by seven different conjugations, called stems, the simplest of which is the Qal ([ARABIC TEXT]), abbreviated G (for ground).

Voice, in grammar, refers to the form of a verb that indicates whether the subject is acting (active voice), is being acted upon by an expressed or unexpressed agent (passive voice), or neutral, with no agent expressed or implied (middle voice).

Participles are adjectives formed from verbs.

The G active participle masculine singular has an unchangeably long hôlem between the first and second radicals and a sērê under the second radical: [ARABIC TEXT]

The G passive participle masculine singular has a qāmes under the first radical and an unchangeably long šûreq between the second and third radicals: [ARABIC TEXT].

G participles are declined like any other adjective, except that there is an alternative feminine singular ending for the G active participle: [ARABIC TEXT].

Roots that have as a radical (1) a guttural, (2) a [ARABIC TEXT] (which may assimilate), or (3) a vowel letter deviate from the strong-root patterns in systematic ways and are said to be weak.

The definite direct object in Hebrew is indicated by the presence of the particle [ARABIC TEXT] (or [ARABIC TEXT]) immediately in front of it.
