Segholate is a conventional term for bisyllabic nouns accented on the first syllable.
Three Rules for Segholate Nouns
(1) Whenever a suffix is added to a segholate noun, the original form of the noun is retained.
(2) All segholate nouns form their plural absolutes in the same way: shewa under the first radical, a qāmes under the second radical, and the ending appropriate for the noun’s gender attached to the third radical.
(3) For morphologically masculine singular segholate nouns, the absolute and construct states are identical in form.
