Abstract

In this chapter, two administrators give an overview of the historical underpinnings related to the growth of clinical partnership models both from a broad perspective and from a local perspective. This chapter sets the stage by describing not only the historical events that brought the six emerging scholars to this location to do this work in schools but also contextualizing the current climate in regards to regulations, standards, and efforts to reform education both locally, in the state, and beyond particularly emphasizing the complex lives of the students we teach in this diverse, urban setting.
