Abstract

In this chapter, I describe and interpret my dialogue with Monk Jess Koffman on January 5, 2020, at Suan Santidham Temple in Chonburi, Thailand. We discussed various topics, including the nature of the mind, the nature of mindfulness, the purpose of mindfulness practice, how to observe the body and the mind with a stable mind, the benefits of mindfulness practice, and how to understand and transcend suffering. I also talked with Ajahn Prasan, another mindfulness teacher, who guided me to understand the similarity between happiness and pain and to face suffering with courage.
