Abstract

We conducted a pilot survey to examine the relationship between student teachersâ moral identity and their attitudes toward persons with disabilities. 96 student teachers completed a self-report online questionnaire consisted of the 10-itemscale of Moral Identity and a vignette from the Multidimensional Attitudes Scale Toward Persons with Disabilities. Results showed that while moral identity average score was quite high, the three dimensions of attitudes towards persons with disabilities were medium. Moral identity has a medium positive correlation only with the cognitive dimension. Furthermore, affective, cognitive and behavioural dimensions of attitudes towards people with disabilities have positive intercorrelations. Results assume that other factors apart from moral identity maybe affect student teachersâ attitudes towards persons with disabilities and facilitate inclusion.
