Mechanized harvesting generates a large volume of data that needs to be filtered to produce reliable yield maps. The present study aimed to develop an automatic filtering approach for sugarcane yield data, incorporating gaps into the filtering process and investigating the actual productive potential of plants in sugarcane fields. The proposed filtering method was tested using three datasets of sugarcane fields, and results showed that the inclusion of the gap layer in the automatic filtering process of sugarcane rows contributes to determining yield by considering the area effectively occupied by the plant.
