A multispectral sensor system optimized for the shortwave infrared (SWIR) embedded on UAVs was evaluated for monitoring winter wheat crop traits. This study validated the sensor’s performance using 2021 field trial data by analyzing both spectral SWIR features and crop height through structure from motion and multiview stereopsis (SfM/MVS). The results showed strong correlations (R² = 0.74–0.84) for fresh biomass, dry biomass, moisture content, N concentration, and N uptake using SWIR data alone. Combining SWIR vegetation indices with SfM/MVS–derived crop height yielded increased performance results (R² = 0.84–0.95, nRMSE = 0.08–0.15), demonstrating the significant potential of the sensor for precise crop management.
