Soil acidity can limit crop production by affecting nutrient availability and microbial activity. Liming is a common method to adjust soil pH. Traditional soil sampling methods are often costly and time-consuming, prompting the use of innovative VIS-NIRS soil probes for quick on-site assessments. This research compares the ChrysaLabs probe with traditional lab analyses for maize and potato fields in Quebec and New Brunswick provinces, Canada. Results showed significant differences in pH measurements between these two methods, leading to over- or under-application of lime. Further investigation is needed to establish location-specific calibration methods for emerging probe technologies in On-Farm Experimentation.
