Pesticide spray drift negatively impacts non-target crops, beneficial insects, water bodies, and the health of agricultural workers. To enhance the efficacy of crop protectant spray applications and reduce drift, this study developed a web-based “when-to-spray” decision support tool using weather station data and forecasts. The tool provides guidance for the next 72 h on optimal spraying conditions. Spray advisories were developed and tested using station-specific micro-meteorology data, including temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed. The algorithm is based on estimating temperature inversions using air temperature data from 2 and 9 m above ground, as well as ΔT, which represents the difference between dry and wet bulb temperatures. The algorithms developed were tested before integrating into a publicly available web-based decision support portal.
