This study aimed to generate variable rate technology (VRT) fertilization maps through the open web platform AgroSat for two experimental vineyards located in the Chianti area (Central Italy) and verify whether the actual doses distributed in the field by the VRT machinery matched those prescribed by the maps. The field test included weighing the fertilizer distributed in 4 blocks per vineyard (2 in low-vigour zones and 2 in high-vigour zones). Results showed that the VRT machinery was sensitive to the two different vigour zones and distributed a higher amount of fertilizer in low-vigour blocks and a lower amount in high-vigour blocks. AgroSat is designed to foster the adoption of precision agriculture methodologies and promote sustainability in agriculture by overcoming cost-related barriers.
