Data deficiency hinders both mechanistic understanding and robust modeling for the monitoring of rice blast (RB), which is a destructive fungal disease worldwide. This study proposed a simulation method for the optical properties of RB-infected leaves by mixing the spectra of healthy leaves simulated with the PROSPECT-D model and the measured spectra of leaf lesions. As evaluated on the measured leaf reflectance and disease severity, the maximum reflectance simulation errors in red, near-infrared (NIR), and shortwave infrared (SWIR) regions decreased from 54.9%, 38.3% and 25.3% to 18.6%, 21.7% and 7.8%, respectively. The R² of disease severity (DS) estimation is 0.66, based on semi-empirical models. PROSPECT-RB is promising for synthetic dataset generation to bridge the gap of data deficiency.
